Marma Abhyangam
This is a procedure in which whole body massage is done stimulating the marma points of the body thereby reducing pain and inflammation pertaining to musculoskeletal system.
Muthira Kizhi (Kulatha Kizhi)
This is one kind of rooksha (dry) swedam in which horse gram is powdered, held inside a small linen cloth; it is made to be warm and massaged over the body by two masseurs.
Pizhichil
In this treatment lukewarm medicated oil is poured over the person’s body in a special rhythmic manner (masseur soaks the linen in oil and squeezes it over the patient’s body) for 45 minutes.
Shirodhara
Shirodhara is one of the most profound and calming therapies in Ayurveda. The term derives from Sanskrit words Shira (head) and Dhara (continuous flow). In this procedure, a continuous stream of lukewarm medicated oil is gently poured onto the forehead, specifically over the ajna marma (the region between the eyebrows), from a perforated earthen vessel. Each session includes 15 minutes of Shiro Abhyangam (head massage) followed by 30 minutes of Shiro Thailadhara. The choice of medicated oil—such as Ksheerabala Tailam, Brahmi Tailam, or Dhanwantharam Tailam—is determined based on the patient’s prakriti (body constitution) and condition.
Njavarakizhi (Shashtika shali pinda swedanam)
In this massage, boiled Shashtika shali (Njavara rice) (Boiled in Cow milk and decoction of Bala) is made into a pottali with linen cloth and it is soaked inside the above said combination and massaged over the whole body (Done in seven positions).
Nasyam
This is a procedure which is used for cleansing the areas above the shoulder basically nose, throat, sinuses and head. The face, shoulder and chest are massaged softly with medicated oil. Then a medicated is instilled in to the nostrils drop by drop. Depending on the condition of the patient dhoomapanam (herbal smoke) and kabalam (gargling) will also be done as pashchat karma.
Shiro-Abhyangam
In this procedure, massage is done over the head and the scalp with medicated oils which is selected according to the condition of the patient
Ela Kizhi
Ela Kizhi is a herbal leaf bolus massage where warm herbal leaves are used in bolus form for massage therapy.
